In November 2025, a Clark County grand jury indicted Cox on a Category D felony — a charge that can carry one to four years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
Her motion to dismiss the charge was denied by a Clark County District Court judge in February 2026. The case is set for jury trial in October 2026.
A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Public Integrity Unit investigation alleged Cox operated an unlicensed daycare business out of her home — profiting an estimated $200,000 over a one-year span.
Investigators noted Cox may also be committing tax evasion on that income.
The Henderson City Council voted unanimously to censure Cox following the LVMPD investigation and her indictment.
The censure removed her from all regional boards and commissions and restricts her communications with city staff.
The Metro Public Integrity Unit’s investigation found a documented pattern that includes:

• Intervention in a police internal affairs investigation
• Serving as board chair of a nonprofit under police investigation
• Sharing of confidential information
